Overview

From required Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP®) courses to specialized and corrective education, The Appraisal Foundation®'s (Foundation) course offerings support real property appraisers, personal property appraisers, and business valuers at every stage of their career.

National and Equivalent USPAP® Courses

Since its inception, The Appraisal Foundation®'s (Foundation) has worked to foster professionalism in appraising by establishing, improving, and promoting the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP®). The Foundation develops and maintains the 15-Hour National USPAP® Course and the 7-Hour National USPAP® Update Course. These courses are required for real property appraisers seeking to obtain or renew a credential.

  • The 15-Hour Course is required for initial licensure as Qualifying Education (QE)
  • The 7-Hour Course must be taken once every two calendar years for Continuing Education (CE)

Both courses may be delivered:

  • In-person or virtually
  • By a provider using the Foundation’s materials or their own AQB-approved equivalent

Note: To receive state credit for real property, the course must be taught by an AQB-Certified USPAP® Instructor who also holds a current Certified General or Certified Residential credential in at least one U.S. state or territory.

Contact your preferred educational provider for a schedule of course offerings or your state appraisal regulatory agency for information they may have on courses offered in your state.

For a list of course providers who offer the Foundation's USPAP® courses, please see Providers of the Foundation's Courses.
